I started writing in a Barbie diary when I was five years old and have since held an on again off again relationship with the hobby. In second grade, my hope and dream was to grow up to be a professional poet. In middle school I over-thought a lecture on how to put “passion” in your writing. In high school I hit it big. My creative writing journals were passed through classrooms, confiscated by math teachers, and used to wake me up during history.
While I have always enjoyed writing, my number 1 passion in life is dance. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a degree in Dance Performance and Choreography and since then have moved to Atlanta, GA where I dance with SIDEWAYS Contemporary Dance Company and manage a dance school. The summer after my junior year in college I attended a dance summer intensive in New York City. It was the first time I was living on my own, and I wrote a series of Facebook notes about my journey that became a nightly read for many of my friends. I had requests from friends and family members to keep writing about my experiences, and to be honest I was surprised that anyone cared.
I moved to Atlanta and worked a crazy job that sparked my first blog called “Sarcasm Corner: Free Refills.” The job provided an unlimited amount of content, and my family and friends were addicted. Then I got a job that I love. A job that I care about too much, and a job that unfortunately doesn’t provide enough juicy content for me to write about. Ok, maybe it does. But I care too much about the people that I interact with now to actually write sarcastic things about them. I had an idea to start a new blog project, and my web savvy husband decided I needed to have my own site. So here we are. If you’ve made it this far, now I am going to tell you what I am going to use this site for.
My Life En Pointe is the new home of Sarcasm Corner. Sarcasm corner is an exaggerated version of self-witnessed happenings. I will also use the blog to promote and write about whatever else I feel like writing about. So have fun, have some imagination, have thick skin, and enjoy reading about my life en pointe.
